Authentication

All API requests require an API key passed as a Bearer token. Keys are managed in the STVerify Dashboard and scoped per product.

Security: Never expose API keys in client-side code or public repositories. All keys are hashed at rest. Lost keys cannot be recovered — generate a new key from the dashboard.

POST /v1/verify

POST/v1/verify$0.25/call

Point-in-time compliance check for a business entity. Returns SOS good standing, overdue compliance items, active insurance, upcoming filings, and an overall compliance tier.

entity_id	uuid	optional	Start Today entity UUID. Most precise — no name matching ambiguity.
name	string	optional	Entity legal name. Must be combined with state.
state	string	optional	2-letter state code (IL, WI, TX). Required when using name.

Compliance Tiers

Tier	Meaning	Lender Interpretation
compliant	Good standing, zero overdue items, insurance current	Clean borrower. No compliance-related credit concerns.
watch	1–2 minor items upcoming, all in good standing	Monitor. No immediate action required.
at_risk	1–3 overdue items or standing issues	Require resolution plan. Flag in credit memo.
critical	4+ overdue items or standing revoked	Serious concern. Covenant trigger may apply.

POST /v1/score

POST/v1/score$0.10/call

Retrieve the Start Score™ for an entity or organization. Returns the 0–100 compliance health score, score band, overdue count, and risk flags. Includes lender and deal-context interpretation notes.

Start Score™ = STVerify Certified Calculation™. Each score call generates a billable certified calculation. Use for lender covenant monitoring, deal diligence, and portfolio risk scoring.

POST /v1/monitor

POST/v1/monitor$25/mo per org

Enroll an organization for continuous compliance monitoring. Receive webhook alerts when score drops, good standing changes, insurance lapses, or new overdue items appear. Use GET /v1/monitor?org_id=X to check monitoring status.

Rate limit headers are included on every response: X-RateLimit-Remaining and X-RateLimit-Reset. Use exponential backoff on 429 responses.
